The
National Park Service re-opened the Washington Monument for visitation
April 1st, 2005. Visitors wishing to reserve Washington Monument
Tickets should call (800)967-2283. The monument is open daily 9am
to 5pm. Closest Metro Station -- Smithsonian.
The
Washington Monument is a prominent feature of the DC skyline.
Decorated with a circle of flags at its base, it is a patriotic symbol.
In December 1799, eight days after the death of Washington, United
States Representative John Marshall, later the distinguished Chief
Justice, proposed that "a Marble monument, be erected by the United
States in the Capitol, at the City of Washington, and that the family of
George Washington be requested to permit his body to be to be deposited
under it."

has been the home of every President except George Washington.
Tours of the White House have expanded to include parties of ten people
or more. Tours are scheduled Tues - Sat 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
