Washington, DC
The
United States Capitol is at the heart of Washington DC. It is the
center of the government as well as the geographic center of the city.
A city rich with history and full of distinct, graceful, and proud
architecture, Washington DC is a popular tourist attraction year-round.
Pierre L'Enfant was the French-born engineer, architect, and urban
designer who designed the basic plan for Washington, DC. The city looks
the way it does today in large part because of his brilliant design.
In 1791 President George Washington picked him to design the young
nation's new capital city.

the Smithsonian Institution museums, National Archives, various art
