You are here> Tourist4Life > Seattle Things to do in Seattle, WAThe town of Seattle is a mixture of aging urban buildings and shiny skyscrapers sprinkled on steep hills downtown, a picturesque harbor and an immense international district. The town reminded me of San Francisco's hilly streets and the harbor resembled a smaller version of Fisherman's Wharf. The boutiques and high-class stores on 6th and 5th Avenues downtown reminded me of Michigan Ave, Chicago. Seattle is a busy, bustling city - kind of like New York, but with fewer good restaurants. There is plenty to do in Seattle, and our four days there were chock-full of activities. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza, located right downtown on Seneca St and 5th Ave - just a few blocks from the waterfront. Seattle has an amazing public transportation system and we traveled by every means - airport bus charter, public bus, monorail, ferry boat, and taxi. The bus system is unique in that the bus routes that run throughout the greater downtown area are free (what a bargain!) - and if you ride them outside of this area it is a mere $1.25. Of course, with everything so close to our hotel, we did a great deal of walking - make sure you wear comfortable shoes and clothing, the hills are steep and you will be huffing and puffing as you climb them. If you are staying downtown, take a look at the Seattle Downtown Airporter as an efficient, and inexpensive way to travel to and from the airport. Adult roundtrip tickets are only $17.00 and the bus will drop you off/pick you up at any downtown hotel.
